Why this sits with our legal pages
Accessibility is a commitment we are willing to state plainly and stand behind, the same way we do with our other legal pages.
Putting it here, next to security and privacy, keeps every promise about how this site treats you in one place.
Our standard
We are aiming at the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1, Level AA. We are at partial conformance today, and no independent accessibility audit has been performed on this site.
We do not use an accessibility overlay widget. We would rather fix real issues in the site itself than paper over them with a plugin.
We do not use an accessibility overlay
We deliberately did not install an accessibility overlay, the kind of plugin that claims to fix accessibility with a floating toolbar.
Those tools scan a page after the fact and often miss real problems, or introduce new ones. We would rather fix issues in the site’s own code, even if it takes longer.
What works today
A manual check today found the header menu is keyboard-navigable: tabbing through it moves focus through each link in order.
Heading levels on the homepage run in order, from the H1 down through H2 and H3, with no level skipped.
Desktop browser zoom (Ctrl or Cmd plus the plus and minus keys) still resizes our text normally. We did notice our site’s current mobile viewport setting blocks pinch-zoom, which we consider a gap to fix, not a feature.
Known gaps
We would rather list what still needs work than claim a clean bill of health.
- Product image alt text. This site includes 173 Amazon-hosted product images. We have not verified alt text on all of them at scale, so some may be missing or incomplete.
- Skip-to-content link. Our homepage does not currently have a skip-to-content link for keyboard and screen reader users.
How we assess it
We check accessibility with manual spot checks: tabbing through pages, reading heading structure, and checking contrast by eye.
We also run pages through built-in browser developer tools. No third-party accessibility audit has been done on this site yet.
Compatibility
We test primarily on current versions of Chrome, Firefox, Safari, and Edge on desktop, plus mobile Safari and mobile Chrome.
Older or less common browsers may render some elements differently.
